Medium Long Hairstyles 2009, 2010

Medium Long Hairstyles in 2009, 2010

Medium length hair offers flexibility to the wearer. It’s easier to manipulate than short or long hair. This can be important if you’re ready to change your look.
When you think about changing the style of hair you might enjoy, you must remember that the shape of your face (which is actually determined by the bone structure of your face) will be the most important factor in finding the best look for you. If you try something new, a medium length of hair is a good place to start from. You can always move to the shorter lengths if you want, and if you resolve to go with longer hair, you can add extensions or wait for natural growth to do it’s work.
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Medium Long Hairstyles

Clearly, when you wan to be ready to jump on a great new style, you will be best prepared for a change with medium length hair. The variety of styling techniques available is also most extensive for medium lengths. Obviously, waves and other flowing touches won’t work with short hair. Long hair also has its limitations, because it will not work well with certain styles that require bone structures that you do not have.
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Medium Long Hairstyles

Given the variety of faces in the world, it’s a good general rule to keep your hair at medium length. This allows you the most versatility when trying out new styles. Medium length hair can look shorter than it actually is and it can be tweaked, twisted and experimented on in many more ways than long or short hair.

Hairstyles for Long Faces

Hairstyles for Long Faces - Find Your Perfect Style for 2009

When it comes to hairstyles, there are so many different types of hairstyles on the market today. The think, long hair with that textured look has got to be one of the most attracted hairstyles out there today. Individuals who have long faces often try to have long hair and that is a perfect way to go about it. During your wedding, if you have a long face, then you may want to consider leaving your hair down as this will add the perfect touch to your wedding pictures. Within this article, we are going to tell you about hairstyles for long faces.
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Hairstyles for Long Faces

Many individuals throughout the world have long faces and there are a number of different hairstyles you will be able to turn to in order to get that beautiful look you want. If you have straight hair, then you will be able to create more width by cutting your bangs and having bangs in your everyday hair style.
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Hairstyles for Long Faces

A chin-length bob would also look great on your long face and would add a lot of features. Also, for those individuals who have long faces and are looking for new hairstyles that will help your looks out, you should think about curls. Adding curls to your look will defiantly make your hair look good and will create a great illusion for you. The curls and waves you add to your hair is also going to create a lot of width and that is just what you need. However, you should avoid any short layers that are going to add volume on the top of your hair because that will not suit you long face. The key with the bangs is the fact that they make your face appear shorter than it really is. This is also great for individuals who have large foreheads.

Detangle With Shampoo

If you're like me and you have problems detangling your hair at times, try this alternative...Detangle with your Shampoo!! It's different, but it works. I just did it today and my hair glided through the comb with so much ease, I was SHOCKED!

Try these steps:
1. Wet your hair
2. Apply your shampoo to the roots, massage the scalp.
3. While the shampoo is rinsing out and running down your ends take your wide tooth comb and start to comb from the ends up.
4. Rinse.

After I did this my hair was detangled and soft. Detangling with conditioner is ok, but I prefer this 10x more. The product I used was Creme of Nature Detangling Conditioning Shampoo (red label). I highly recommend using a moisturizing CONDITIONING shampoo while doing this, that way the hair is more slippery and the comb can glide through without much effort. This is also good for those that like to Deep Condition on dry hair and then shampoo after.

I remember stalking her blog (in the beginning of my hair journey) before I even started mine...LOL. With that being said, be sure to check me out over at The Coarse Hair Diary from time to time talking about what I love most...HAIR! :-)

Bald As I Wanna Be Why we still won’t let our hair down when it comes to bald women

BY Lisa Whittington-Hill
Photography by David Appleby

When V for Vendetta was released, the film generated some controversy. Can a terrorist really be a hero? Can thoughtful political commentary on life in a post 9-11, Orwellian state really sell at the box office or would moviegoers rather see Rumor Has It? Most importantly, did you hear A-list actress Natalie Portman shaved her head for the movie?
For some reason Portman’s bad hair day was all the media could talk about. She did countless interviews promoting the film and the questions inevitably returned to her hair. Did she know she was going to have to cut it when she took the role? Will it ever grow back? She likes being bald? Really?
Unfortunately, the sight of a woman’s bare scalp still makes society’s hair stand on end. Despite how far we’ve come, beauty and sexuality remain tied to a woman’s hair. “Some people will think I’m a neo-Nazi or that I have cancer or I’m a lesbian,” Portman said post V haircut. Why when we see a bald woman do we assume she’s a lesbian, radical feminist, political extremist or understudy for the role of Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek?
Like me, Portman doesn’t seem to get the big bald deal. She’s quoted as saying she “was excited to have the opportunity to throw vanity away for a little while and go around with no hair.” She admits she even wanted to, gasp, keep her bald ’do.
Portman is not the first actress to shed her locks for a role. Demi Moore shaved her head for G.I. Jane and moviegoers, in addition to longing for a return to her Striptease days, reacted with the same shock and horror. And like actress Sigourney Weaver (who went bald for Alien 3), Moore doesn’t mind losing her femininity, but it comes with a big price tag. In 2004 it was rumored Moore would shave her head again, but only if $1 million be donated to a charity for women with cancer and the haircut happen at a time convenient for the actress (sorry Ashton, you’ve been punked—your wife has no hair!).
Not to be left out of the bald craze, a recent episode of America’s Next Top Model (don’t be judgin’) had the would-be cover girls get bald for a photo shoot (using skull caps of course). Host Tyra Banks reminded the girls that without their hair they would have to rely on their other facial features to carry their beauty. Eyes and nose, it’s all up to you now! Work it! The results were horrible, if only because the girls have been conditioned to equate beauty with hair and looked lost and incapable of posing without their weaves.
In some cultures bald women signify mourning. During slavery in the US and in the prison camps of Nazi Germany, a woman’s hair was shaved as punishment. Stripped of her hair, she was stripped of her dignity. In the heady days of the women’s liberation movement in the 1970s, short hair became the norm for women wanting to challenge traditional notions of femininity and smash the state with a set of scissors. Nowadays, we like our women hairless, just not above the neck.
We describe Captain Picard and Bruce Willis as sexy while anti-Rapunzels are described as rebellious, tough and liberated. Not bad adjectives at all, but sexy rarely enters the equation. If beauty does, it’s often proceeded by the word “unconventional.”
And rather than wearing their politics on their sleeves, bald women are seen to be wearing them on their, well, heads. Sinéad O’Connor’s baldness is regularly mentioned in the same sentence and deemed as subversive as her political lyrics and that time she ripped up a picture of the Pope on national TV and urged viewers to “fight the real enemy.”
Years ago, while in university I shaved my head. At a wedding about a month later, a guest asked what I wanted to be when I graduated. She wasn’t content with my answer of “out of debt,” so I said I wanted to be a journalist. “The world needs more political writers,” she replied. I told her I was more interested in writing about music than politics. (I didn’t know yet that “everything is political.”) “Oh, I just assumed with your haircut you were, you know, ‘political.’” After a few more trips to the open bar I complained to my date about her comments. “Don’t worry,” he said, “it’s cool. Until you shaved your head, I never realized you had really nice eyes.”

Britney Spears

Britney Spears not only made a mark this year as her recent comeback stint has finally been amped up with her overall look. The pure gold curls bring out the best of the comeback diva and she just shines out from the rest. Her gold curls look good together with her peach complexion making her more radiant.

Miley Cyrus has stick up to her original plan. The usual soft layered curls brings out the inner rocker in her. It is a good hairstyle to choose to promote life and body in dead hair but it comes with a disadvantage to rounded face ladies. It’s a great hairstyle to follow but it might be very difficult if you do it yourself so hit up the nearest beauty hair salon and give it your best shot.

Bridesmaids Hairstyles Tips

Bridesmaid Hairstyle Tips

One extremely lucrative and interesting field in the world of hairstyle is the bridesmaid’s hairdo. This look can be very difficult to create, but it is not actually a specific kind of hairdo. Instead it is a hairstyle created to emphasize and add to the effect of another hairstyle ‐ the bride’s!
The bride’s hair will determine what the bridesmaid wears, including color, length, curl, wave, and extension. This has the effect of dampening down experimentation, because even if the bride enjoys a crazy or extreme look, the odds are that most of her friends will want to avoid it.
There are always exceptions however, and if a group of bridesmaid decide to match a pink bridal hairdo with pink tints, which will certainly improve the effect the bride is looking for. For the most part, however, brides enjoy a classic princess updo. It is the job of the bridesmaid to match the bride’s style with a look that repeats it without surpassing it.
Usually the bride asks her maids to have updos that are not so high as her own, and with fewer decorative strands. Regardless of what the bride chooses, this requires clear communication between the bride and her maids. One or two simple meetings are usually all that is required.
A stylist can then be engaged to provide a quick series of sessions that can be modulated and tweaked as they occur, and a really beautiful group image can be created, with the bridesmaids all coordinating their styles to emphasize the various strengths of the bride’s looks.

Kate Winslet Steals the Show

Kate Winslet Steals the Show

For once, Kate Winslet got her fair share of the awards at the Golden Globes but this time, it was her hair that did the talking rather than her voice. It was a good job really after she stuttered or stammered her way through an acceptance speech.
With her fringe sexily swept to one side and the rest of her hair tied back, the golden blonde highlights that she had put in for the show shined and glittered like the beautiful diamonds in her ears. The hair, makeup and even the clothes that she was wearing were reminiscent of the 1950’s era and the classic and elegant look that accompanied it.
Although she wanted to be as blonde as she could for the star scattered award ceremony, a more natural look was opted for. Champagne highlights were lightly strewn through her hair that was all down to the hands of the Creative Color Director for the British hairdresser, John Frieda. Nicola Clarke also colored Kate’s hair for the film that she later won an award for, Revolutionary Road. This was where the 50’s appeal came from and with the sparkling blonde hair, beautiful red lips and classic eyeliner; Kate Winslet couldn’t have got the look more right! It’s just a shame that the speech didn’t come half as natural!

Golden Globes Hair Sets the Stage

Golden Globes Hair Sets the Stage

This year the red carpet awards – The Golden Globes were a frenzy of stylish dresses, well groomed hair and sparkling bling as opposed to outrageous designs that normally dominate red carpet events. The look that seemed to cross the stars was one of hair that was as elegant as the dresses they headed with sweeping back styles and slicked down smoothness.
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Celebrity Hairstyles

Jennifer Lopez
followed this style with an unusually simple look for the high maintenance girl. She wore her hair slicked back showing off a sparkling set of earrings and a gorgeous gold dress that simply demanded attention. Kate Winslet also towed the line wearing her hair back as well but this time with a set of bangs to cut the look down a little bit and again, a set of serious diamonds that filled the space that her hair left bare.
Debra Messing seems to step aside from the slicked back style that the rest of the female stars seemed to follow and this time decided on a bed of messy curls to wrap around a pony tail. Drew Barrymore also decided to follow the bigger is better theme with a rather large teased up do to set off her floor length dress.
Angelina Jolie, never one to join in with the crowd, settled with the long wavy locks that she has become somewhat famous for. But then again, seeing as she was joined with Brad Pitt, she didn’t really have the need for any more accessories!

Beauty Secrets for Fine Hair

Beauty Secrets for Fine Hair - 2009 Spring Summer Tips

For those ladies out there who have fine and thin hair but dream of bouncy hair with plenty of volume then help is at hand! If you want fuller hair to plump up and show off as you wish, all you need to do is follow these simple guidelines and the days of lank hair will soon be a thing of the past!
2009 Spring Summer Hairstyles Edition - Fine Hair

First of all, one of the biggest secrets that every woman with fine hair should know is the fact that dirty hair looks lifeless no matter how thick or full of volume it is. So, bearing this in mind, make sure that you wash your hair more often that you already do. This is not always good for your hair as it strips the hair of vital compounds but if you only wash your hair every three days now, try to wash it every two days and make sure you use great hair conditioning products to make sure that it is still healthy.
There are plenty of shampoos out there that are designed to pump up the volume so perhaps it is worth paying that little bit more for one that does just this? You should try and get a conditioner with the same properties but only ever use a small amount and try to focus more on the ends of your hair than the roots as fine hair combined with lots of conditioner will just lay limp and lifeless as beauty products such as this have a habit of weighing hair down.
Hair extensions are a great last resort for fuller volume in hair so if you are planning a big night out and you fancy a bit more “pouf” to your hairdo, why not try the clip in ones that you can get for a short term fix?
